Carpool Classroom

Sometimes the best lessons happen in a mobile classroom.

Drew Huffman, Vice President of Jump$tart Minnesota, recently drove from La Crosse, Wisconsin, to Minnesota with his college-age daughter and three of her friends. He was happy to report that along the way, the car ride turned into an unexpected personal finance discussion, as the group shared questions, experiences, and perspectives about money.

At  Jump$tart Minnesota, we encourage parents and trusted adults to have meaningful conversations with young people about financial topics. Often, the best opportunities arise naturally. When discussions happen in a relaxed group setting, young adults may feel more comfortable asking questions, sharing stories, and learning from one another.

Don’t miss the chance to turn everyday events—like a simple car ride—into teachable moments!

More information on personal finance resources and programs will be available on the new Jump$tart Minnesota website—coming soon!
